Prince William lands in the Falkland Islands

[The Telegraph]- After being argued and talked about for several months, Prince William arrived in the Falkland Islands. He is the first member of the Royal family to visit in five years. Prince William plans to remain in the Falkland Islands for six weeks working as a RAF helicopter pilot. Because of the promise of oil on the Falkland Islands, British officials are frightened that Argentina’s president will create a commercial only economic blockade of the Islands.

U.N. resolve on Syria brutality blocked by Russia and China

[LA Times]- Russia and China stopped the United Nations Security Council’s resolution for the violent attacks in Syria. The resolve was supporting an Arab League idea which might have quickened Syrian President Bashar Assad’s leave from office. Russia and China put a halt to the plans because they felt that the resolution by the U.N. was one sided and would only hold the government accountable, not the rebels wanting Assad to leave.

Anti-government protests in Senegal after two deaths

[AfricaNews]- Hundreds have taken to the streets in protest of Senegal’s government after two citizens were killed by police. The country’s incumbent president Abdoulaye Wade’s has withstood two court rulings and is on next month’s ballot. Opposition groups have protested these rulings.

Australia parliament considers airport full-body scans

Book Review: How do you kill 11 million people?

If you are looking for a book with a title that will get attention, this book will do the trick. Andy Andrews asks a bold question and answers it in a format that only requires 15-20 minutes to read. The reference to eleven million is obviously to Nazi Germany, but the question and answer are the same for any of the repressive regimes that have killed the masses over this planet’s history.

The current events of the world make this an appropriate time to ask the question the title inquires. History repeats itself over and over. Do people actually learn from it and avoid the mistakes of the past? Personally, I am not optimistic. We live in a world blessed with great abundance and great plight.

How Do You Kill 11 Million People? will ask more questions than it will answer. That is the point. As an individual, people have a responsibility to do their part to create the world they want. I highly recommend this book.

Jordan stops Syrian monitoring mission

[Al Arabiya]- Jordan’s Foreign Minister confirmed that the country has withdrawn its monitors from the Arab League mission in Syria. The League withdrew from the mission due to increased violence. Syria’s president has blamed foreign intervention for the worsening attacks.

US and Singapore improve relations
