<p>&#8220;In all, 76 men were found on the ship and were believed to be in good health,  considering the voyage they had just undertaken, Rob Johnston, of the Canada  Border Services Agency, said at a news conference.</p>
<p>Their vessel, the “Ocean Lady,” was also described as being in decent  condition.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>[CBC News]&#8211;  The Canadian Real Estate Association says 135,182 homes were sold countrywide  in the third quarter, up 18 per cent from a year earlier and the most ever for  the period.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s the biggest year-over-year increase since early 2002, the group said  Thursday.</p>
<p>Building on two previous quarterly increases, seasonally adjusted home sales on  the agency&#8217;s Multiple Listing Service now stands 48 per cent above the low  reached in the fourth quarter last year.</p>

<p><span>G</span>ustavo Gutierrez Masareno was the model  Mexican law-enforcement officer.</p>
<p>His portrait was displayed on billboards in Ciudad Juarez as the new face of  authority: trustworthy, respectful of human rights.</p>
<p>He had been honoured by the state governor of Chihuahua for solving cold-case  murders of women and girls in a region notorious throughout the world for its  <em>feminicidios</em> &#8211; more than 400 femicides in the past 10 years alone linked  to sex crimes.</p>

<p>When the pain in Christina Woodkey&#8217;s legs became so severe that she could no  long hike or cross-country ski, she went to her local health clinic. The  Calgary, Canada, resident was told she&#8217;d need to see a hip specialist. Because  the problem was not life-threatening, however, she&#8217;d have to wait about a  year.</p>

<p>But a growing scandal over a massive contract to improve his city&#8217;s water  system is poisoning his hope for a third term.</p>
<p>Just days into his re-election campaign, Mayor Gérald Tremblay was forced  Tuesday to fire two officials, including the city manager, and cancel a  $356-million contract – the biggest in Montreal&#8217;s history.</p>

<p>Leading the charge against the plan to blend the provincial sales tax and the  federal goods and services tax were former premier Bill Vander Zalm and current  provincial NDP Leader Carole James.</p>
<p>At least 15 rallies took place across the province, the largest of which was  outside the new convention centre in Vancouver, where an estimated 2,000 people  gathered to voice their opposition.</p>
