			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The US should abandon sanctions against Burma, a senior senator said today after flying out of Rangoon with the American man jailed for swimming to the house of the Burmese democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.</p>
<p>Jim Webb was speaking in Bangkok after securing the release of John Yettaw, the eccentric American well-wisher whose clandestine visit to Ms Suu Kyi inadvertently led to her being given an additional 18 months of house arrest.</p>
