U.N. resolve on Syria brutality blocked by Russia and China

[LA Times]- Russia and China stopped the United Nations Security Council’s resolution for the violent attacks in Syria. The resolve was supporting an Arab League idea which might have quickened Syrian President Bashar Assad’s leave from office. Russia and China put a halt to the plans because they felt that the resolution by the U.N. was one sided and would only hold the government accountable, not the rebels wanting Assad to leave.

Jordan stops Syrian monitoring mission

[Al Arabiya]- Jordan’s Foreign Minister confirmed that the country has withdrawn its monitors from the Arab League mission in Syria. The League withdrew from the mission due to increased violence. Syria’s president has blamed foreign intervention for the worsening attacks.

US and Singapore improve relations

UN resolution on Syria could cause civil war

[Voice of America]- According to Russia, a Western and Arab exertion for the UN to find a resolution on Syria will inevitably lead to civil war. Russia’s foreign minister, Gennady Gatilov believes that the consistent push for Western and Arabs resolution will not lead to a compromise. Recent fighting in the Damascus suburbs and central province of Homs in Syria led to about 100 civilian deaths.

India to purchase France Rafale fighter jet

[Washington Post]- The Rafale fighter jet finally has a new foreign owner after two decades of France trying to sell it. This 11 billion dollar settlement with India took place for 126 planes and a technology transfer. In France, 18 of these jets will be built and 108 will be constructed in India. Negotiations of the contract will soon begin.

Syrian military fights rebels in Damascus suburbs

[Reuters]- Nearly twenty were reported killed as Syria’s military rebel strongholds in the suburbs of Damascus. Troops were backed by tanks and armored vehicles. The Arab League ended monitoring the day before the battle.

Noda attempts to conquer rising debt in Japan

[Japan Today]- Japan is buried in a debt totaling 1,024 trillion yen. This equals about 8 million dollars per person. Even though Japan has the third largest economy in the world, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development states that Japan’s debt to GDP ratio is 211.7 %. The ideas produced by Noda could increase tax receipts by whopping 10 trillion yen a year.

India to pay for oil from Iran in yen?

[Bloomberg]- India has apparently been asked to pay for a portion of its oil imports from Iran in yen. This is due to concerns over the value of the rupee. The two Asian nations are attempting to continue their lucrative oil trade. The Indian rupee has been falling in value while the Japanese yen has been on the rise.
