Two churches rocked by blasts in Nigeria

[News 24]- Two churches were bombed over night in northern Nigeria. There were no immediate reports of casualties. The group responsible for the attacks was not named, but radical Islamic sects have responsible for prior attacks against Christian targets.

[BBC News]- One hundred fifty people were killed Friday after an Islamist militant group attacked northern Nigeria. This is said to be the most bloody onslaught to date. The massive explosions are making it difficult for hospitals to cope with the large amount of injured people. These Islamist groups have set out to take over the government to implement an Islamic state.

Niger’s new 24 hour curfew

[BBC]- Protests on ending oil production caused a massive uproar in Niger. The governments decision to stop fuel subsidies resulted in Nigerians targeting the homes and offices of politicians. In order to regain structure and control in Niger the government implemented a 24 hour curfew to the state of Niger. This curfew has also been implemented in the state of Kaduna after similar protests occurred.

China apologises to Nigeria over fake drugs

[ZeeNews]– China has formerly apologised to Nigeria for alleged export of fake drugs by some Chinese firms to that country and assured to take punitive action against those involved in the nexus.

At a meeting of global coalition partners against fake drugs manufacture, importation and exportation in Abuja, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Rong Yansong regretted the exportation of fake drugs to the West African country by some Chinese nationals and industries.

Hundreds of Nigerian oil militants surrender arms

Hundreds of Nigerian militants on Saturday surrendered their weapons, mortar bombs and gunboats, as part of a federal amnesty programme that aims to stem unrest in the oil-producing Niger Delta.

The handover by dozens of militant groups was the largest collection of weapons and ammunition since President Umaru Yar’Adua’s 60-day amnesty programme began two weeks ago.
